Comprehensive Eye Examinations

You will experience the newest technology and instrumentation to provide you with a thorough eye health examination. Using a computerized auto-refractor, digital retinal scan, and automated visual field perimeter, every aspect of your visual system will be analyzed.

Pacific EyeCare Center is one of the few offices in the United States to utilize the Nidek RT-2100 Refraction System. This system will allow the doctors to refine your prescription within one degree of accuracy, giving you the best vision possible - often better than 20/20.

When Should I Have My Next Eye Examination?

Many people equate the need for an eye examination with replacing their eyeglasses. While it is certainly important to see well, undesirable changes in your eyes can occur which do not adversely affect vision in the early stages. Unlike the rest of your body, your eyes rarely hurt when something is wrong. Do not rely on changes in your vision or broken glasses to remind you of your next appointment. Follow the advice of experts and have your eyes examined on a regular basis.

Optomap

In our continued efforts to bring the most advanced technology available to our patients, Pacific EyeCare Center is proud to announce the inclusion of the Optomap retinal exam as an integral part of your eye exam today.

Dr. Yumori and Dr. Matsumoto are concerned about retinal problems including macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal holes or detachements and systemic diseases such

as diabetes, stroke and high blood pressure. These conditions can lead to serious health problems including partial loss of vision or blindness, and often develop without warning and progress with no symptoms.

Optomap Provides:

- An eye wellness scan.

- An in depth view of the retinal layers(where disease can start.

- The ability to review your Optomap retinal image with your doctor during your exam.

- An annual, permanent record for your medical file, which gives your doctor comparisons for tracking and diagnosing potential eye disease.

Optomap:

- Is fast easy, and comfortable.

- Will NOT require dialating drops(which result in blurred vision and sensitivity to light).

Laser Vision Correction

Most people with vision correction issues are wanting to know more about LASIK and whether it is right for them. Here is a brief description of the procedure;

A flap is surgically cut in the cornea and gently folded back. An Excimer Laser is used to reshape the cornea into a flatter shape (this is much like a contact lens corrects vision by forming a new shape on the cornea). The flap is then put back in place, acting like a natural bandage. The healing process is quick and the discomfort level is quite low.

People will often say that they did not feel anything, and could see well the very first day. Most people have improved vision in 24-48 hours. but it must be noted that each person will heal at a different rate. Vision, although greatly improved immediately after surgery, often continues to improve for some weeks, even months.

LASIK is not for everyone. People's eyes are different so even though you may have had a friend who has had LASIK, it may not be the best course of treatment for you. If you are interested in laser vision correction, we will be happy to guide you in picking the right surgeon, procedure and laser appropriate for you.

After the procedure, we take great care to monitor your eyes and adjust your medication for the best possible results.

We also offer the most recent advancement in LASIK surgery - Wavefront Guided LASIK. This new technology, taken from astronomy, corrects higher order optical aberrations in your visual system resulting in fewer night vision problems and clearer overall vision.
